DAY 1

Nairobi to Amboseli - Enter the Land of Giants

Your safari adventure begins with pickup from your Nairobi hotel or airport at 7:30 AM. Enjoy the scenic 4-hour drive southeast through changing landscapes - from the bustling capital, through Maasai homelands, to the acacia-dotted plains approaching Amboseli. Stop at a curio shop for last-minute supplies and restrooms.

Arrive at Ol Tukai Lodge around midday for check-in and a delicious lunch overlooking the park's wetlands. After a brief rest, depart at 4:00 PM for your first afternoon game drive. As the day cools, elephants emerge from the swamps, their massive silhouettes framed against Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak.

Your guide will position you for the perfect shots as herds of elephants, often 50+ individuals, move gracefully across the plains. Spot zebras, wildebeest, Thomson's gazelles, and if lucky, lions or cheetahs. Return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and evening relaxation.

DAY 2

Full Day Amboseli Exploration

Wake to the sight of Kilimanjaro at dawn - the best time for clear views before clouds gather mid-morning. After early breakfast (6:30 AM), embark on an extensive morning game drive (7:00 AM - 11:30 AM) when animals are most active. Drive through the swamps where elephants bathe and hippos lounge, search for lions in the acacia groves, and watch thousands of flamingos in the shallow lakes (seasonal).

Return to lodge for lunch and siesta during the hot midday hours - relax by the pool or on your private veranda. At 4:00 PM, head out again for an afternoon drive visiting different areas of the park. Climb Observation Hill (3.6km, 30-minute hike optional) for stunning 360-degree views of the entire park, nearby Lake Amboseli, and of course, Kilimanjaro.

Evening game drive continues until 6:30 PM, followed by dinner and optional documentary about Amboseli's elephants in the lodge lounge.

DAY 3

Photography Paradise & Cultural Experience

This morning is dedicated to photography enthusiasts. Depart at 6:00 AM for the best light conditions and clear mountain views. Your guide positions the vehicle for optimal photo opportunities - elephants crossing the plains with Kilimanjaro behind, golden sunrise illuminating the wetlands, and close-up wildlife portraits.

Return to lodge around 10:00 AM for brunch. Optional mid-afternoon activity (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM): Visit a traditional Maasai village ($25 per person) to learn about their fascinating semi-nomadic culture, witness traditional dances, see inside a manyatta (traditional house), and purchase authentic beadwork directly from artisans.

Alternatively, relax at the lodge. Final game drive (4:30 PM - 7:00 PM) with focus on finding any species you've not yet seen. Enjoy sundowner drinks at a scenic spot as the sun sets behind Kilimanjaro. Farewell dinner at the lodge with a special bush BBQ experience.
