DAY 1

Nairobi → Samburu National Reserve

Your safari begins with a scenic drive north from Nairobi through Kenya’s central highlands and across the Equator at Nanyuki. The landscape gradually changes from fertile farmlands to the rugged, semi-arid beauty of northern Kenya. Upon arrival in Samburu National Reserve, you check in at your selected lodge or tented camp and enjoy lunch.
In the afternoon, you head out on your first game drive, exploring the riverine areas along the Ewaso Ng’iro River, which attracts a wide variety of wildlife. Expect sightings of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, and possibly leopards, as well as the unique Samburu Special Five found only in this region. You return to the lodge or camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2

Full Day in Samburu National Reserve

This day is dedicated entirely to wildlife exploration within Samburu and, depending on lodge location, neighboring Buffalo Springs or Shaba National Reserve. After breakfast, you enjoy a game drive through different habitats, from open savannah to riverine forest, offering excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography.
You return to the lodge or camp for lunch and a short rest during the warmer hours. Later in the day, you set out again for an afternoon game drive, increasing your chances of spotting predators such as lions and cheetahs as temperatures cool. An optional visit to a Samburu cultural village can be arranged for guests interested in learning about local traditions. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge or camp.

DAY 3

: Samburu → Nairobi

After breakfast, you check out and enjoy a final game drive as you exit the reserve, making the most of your last wildlife viewing opportunities. You then begin the return journey to Nairobi, passing through the scenic northern countryside with brief stops along the way. Arrival in Nairobi is in the afternoon, marking the end of your safari.
