MOKORO DAY TRIP
Your guide will pick you up from your lodge at 07:00hrs and embark on a scenic route through traditional villages till you reach the station.
A mokoro day trip is the ultimate 'slow safari'. You'll trade the roar of a Land Rover for the rhythmic splash of a pole and the crunch of footsteps on ancient islands.
* The Vibe: Pure Tranquility. You sit low in a traditional dugout canoe, eye-level with water.
*The Island bushwalk: Most day trips include a stop on a remote island for a guided bushwalk.
* Tracking: Learn to read the 'morning news' written in the sand-identifying fresh tracks from leopards, hyenas, lions and porcupines.
* Flora and Lore: Your guide will point out 'bush pharmacy' plants-leaves that act as natural insect repellent or roots used for medicine.
After a successful walk, you return back into your mokoros and glide towards the station where the vehicle is waiting to get you back to the lodge.
