Midland Hotel stands as a testament to Nakuru's vibrant history and development. In the early 1900s, this region's temperate climate and fertile volcanic soils attracted numerous settlers who were captivated by its natural beauty. Flourishing farming and industrial activities revolved around the bustling market town, with farmers transporting a variety of produce, including wheat, wool, maize, and pyrethrum, to both local and global markets.
Amid Nakuru's emerging commercial landscape was Unga Limited, a company now publicly listed on the Nairobi Stock Exchange. Our hotel has a significant place in this history, having hosted Unga Limited's inaugural board meeting in 1908. Known as The Midland Hotel at the time, it became a pivotal hub in Nakuru's commercial and social spheres.
